Sunday

It was still raining this morning so the grass (when it was finally light out enough to see it) was lush and verdant - and far too wet to even think about mowing today. It looks like the trip to the Gold Coast Arts Centre - to see The Way - is a definite goer.

Pearl and I took the opportunity of Ebony not yet being up (she was secured in her lean-to) to take a morning stroll down to B's and attend to business along the way. She really does seem to enjoy being out and about and was even interested in the ducks swimming on the pond (which is getting bigger as more rain falls) in L's paddock (with Holly and Dolly).

The rain seems to be doing wonders for the seedlings S has planted. She is working with the phases of the moon - she saw a program on it a while back, on what to plant when the moon is either waxing or waning (which is as confusing to me as Daylight Savings and/or time zones in general!). And I think she wants to get some more - because the moon is still in the correct phase.

Well, that was what I thought but actually the moon is almost full so the new plants (when we get them) will have to wait another month fortnight (told you I didn't get it) until the moon is in the right phase again.

Tr was late for our Skype call this morning. She had slept in - thanks to a couple of late nights, including Thursday night at Vivid (in Sydney) and she is still trying to catch up on her sleep - that and cold Sydney nights - and the shorter days which are happening down there as well as here at Latimers - can all lead to not setting alarms and not waking up because it seems earlier than it actually is. Of course, I didn't want to tell her that I had been up since 6, doing the cats, taking Pearl for a walk, taking the rubbish out and a few little other jobbies around the place - it would have just made her feel bad - and we wouldn't want to do that.

The Markets were fairly quiet today - both generally, and for our group. It was still raining this morning and A sent an early message checking if we were all still off to the Markets, or whether we were all nestled up and too cosy to want to go out. I don't think so! Mi sent back a similar message (and we hadn't even conferred about it). Despite our reduced numbers, we were still the last to close the markets. It's good to know some things never change.

We made it to the Arts Centre in time for a quick lunch ... it had to be - by the time our meals arrived, it was time for S to go into the movie. While she did, I did some reading (11.22.63 - why is it taking so long?!!?), tried to make an App work on the iPad, and thought about catching up with some correspondence (fail). But I did manage to catch up on a bit of sleep - who would have thought they had such comfortable lounges at the Arts Centre? Hopefully neither of us snored - because S says she had a couple of zzzz's in the movie (but not too many!). But she did enjoy the movie and seeing it on the big screen.

We called in to Carrara on the way home, to stop in at the pharmacy, and so S could have the lunch she missed out on before the movie. She decided to have the Maurita's $5 coffee, cake and pizza special - truly amazing value.

We finally pulled back into home just as night was falling and a (or rather, the) full moon was rising in the East, and there was a light mist covering the valley. It really is quite beautiful out here!

But there are also potential problems. I had been worried about the pump before M went, just in case the power went off and we needed to reset it, but there is, I now understand, much more to worry about. I found this in M's updated care instructions for Latimers: If anything happens - pump stops, blows up, fire, earthquake - change to rainwater. Funny M never mentioned before that Latimers is in an earthquake zone!!!! Bad enough we're under the dam, but to be in an earthquake zone as well ... how are we ever going to sleep at night??
