The day started with a quick walk down the lane - without Pearl ... she was still in bed! Then, with a hot cup of Milo, it was time for the weekly Skype call with Tr - but first, word from M that she had just received notification of when Sy and An were flying in ... this morning! She set off to pick them up (and have "The Beast" washed) while I was on the Skype call.
Has it really only been a week since the Federal Election? It seems much longer! Tr assured me it was only a week - and it's not over yet - there are still some seats that have not yet been decided, and, of course, there is only an "Acting" Labor leader at the moment and it may be a month before a decision is made on the "real" leader.
The Markets were not as busy today as they have been. Certainly our group was about the smallest I can remember - just six of us - yet still, we were there until after 1 - definitely one of our latest leave times, ever! I'm not sure where everyone was and we would have only been five if M hadn't dropped In after taking Sy And An home!
We dropped in to see the travellers on our way home. They are both in good form but An is a little battle-scarred with a sore hip (too hard beds in Istanbul), sore back (overstretching in a taxi in London) - and there was something else but I can't quite remember ... oh that's right - her hand is not yet fully repaired ... she goes back to the Hand Clinic in a day or two ... and she's just recovering from a tummy bug as well! Sy was fine!
There was a draw on at The Big House this afternoon; we didn't go and not just because we didn't leave Sy and An until after 3 - when the first draw was due. I had thought I was going to sit out in the sun and do some Samagrams but I ended up watching "Capote" instead - about Truman Capote's writing of "In Cold Blood". It was interesting in its portrayal of Capote's interaction with the killers, and how quickly he packed up and went to Holcomb, with Harper Lee, to start researching - he was there even before the Clutters were buried.
M did go the draw and called on her way home to suggest we all go to dinner at the Thai restaurant in Carrara. What a great idea! Even though it is "Under New Management", the fare was quite tasty and even though there were people at only three tables, they seemed to be doing a quite good "takeaway" trade.
As soon as we arrived home, we went into lockdown, a little early but good because we know one of the furries has been hunting today - we found their little present on the mat in the living room when S and I arrived home this afternoon. The only good news is that it wasn't one of the swallows.
