Monday

There is not often competition for the shower here at Latimers, but there was this morning. It is M's first day sitting at QCAT and, since she's on a deadline, I had asked before I slipped in to have my shower; not so S who also has an appointment this morning - and just as M was readying to go in, she heard the bathroom door close. But S doesn't take that long, and M was still ready and out of the house on schedule.

It wasn't long after she left that Pearl started barking. She is good! No, it wasn't M back, it was a man out near the front gate, who, on questioning (because you do) was looking for a survey mark. It must have been difficult to find because when I saw him next, he was standing on L's fence - shouting to someone I couldn't see.

View from the 4-wheel drive

The surveyors were still at work when we arrived back from S's appointment in Nerang and when we set off to Southport a little while later, he and his mate were nowhere to be seen although their gear (tripod and survey thingy) were on the lane near B's place. I'm not sure what they were up to but it did seem to be centered on L's place, I wonder if he's mentioned anything to M about it. Update: apparently not, but M thinks L might be thinking of selling off some of his paddock - hence the need to survey.

S enjoyed Aqua once she was there although she did put up a small resistance about going. She did, in the end, though, appreciate the small push - and the lift there - and calling in to Ferry Road to collect some Epi bread rolls for lunch post-Pool. We swung by the Post Office on the way home, and, just to make sure we had it all, we also stopped at the postbox at the road to collect the mail in there. As S said, she's always concerned that there might be "bities" in there - so it was very brave of her to put her hand in there not once, not twice, but about five times.

Monday is rubbish day, and every second Monday, recycling ... so both bins had to go up to the road this afternoon. I took the opportunity to give the 4-wheel drive a turn-over ... and it is amazing how much more you can see from up there (because it is a little higher than Lars): has Da always had solar panels?

There was no Trivia for us tonight. An is sick - and if she's not there, then Sy won't be there - and with Fl and Ni and St all away that would leave just S and I - and even though we would be able to have a good go at it, the evenings are starting to get just a tiny bit chillier and it took little convincing for S to say that we could give it a miss this evening. Hopefully we will have more of a team together for next week because I wouldn't want to miss it twice in a row ... although if we do next week, we will be without S who is heading South for a few days.

It was a long day for M, who had QCAT, and then this evening was off to the Airport to collect David who had been visiting the family in Sydney for the weekend. Pearl had been moping at the front door waiting for her to come home ... she had had her dinner hours before - so we knew she was waiting for M - and as soon as she was home, and making sure both Maggie and Tinka were also in, we went into lockdown.

And it must really be getting colder ... S made up a hot water bottle before taking herself off to bed.
