Friday

Family and Friends dinner is tomorrow night - so we met at Olga's to go to Putt Putt. As we sat there having bread rolls with chicken and various other filling - especially when F dropped H off after they had been to mosque and movies - I realised we had almost done Family and Friends dinner - the only one missing was Mihriban who was actually home sick with a lurgy she has picked up. Hopefully she will be well enough to come to dinner tomorrow evening - Seafood Spectacular at The Big House!

We went to King Tut's Putt Putt this evening - H had spied it in his travels and wanted to go there. I was just glad he hadn't spied the big slingshot ride and wanted to do that tonight! While the King Tut course options were good - three inside, one outside - we had time to only do one - and that was the Egyptian one as that had a "cave" where the putt putt balls glowed in the dark. In retrospect we decided that probably all the courses (except maybe the outside one) had a similar option but we were happy enough with the Egyptian one - except that it seemed to be a "family" course - with the holes designed to encourage your ball to go in rather than it being a test of skill and expertise. Still, only one of us - H - managed to score a hole in one this evening - and I think all of us had had one at the Mermaid course when we last went.

Then we were off to Surfers Paradise to find some ice cream - which happened to be downstairs from TimeZone ... so of course we had to go there too. H and I are doing car racing machines at the moment - and he's very good at it! It really is an interesting phenomenon to watch young people hang out at Time Zone. You can see that it taps into their short attention spans - no game there is that long - and they seem to be instilling that sense of gaming (or is that gambling) very early. But the kids - and the adults because there were a few - do seem to get something out of it so it can't be all bad!
