"I want one! I want one!" is what I should have said but as it was I just watched the little girl at the table next to us play with her Minion (Despicable Me 2) toy. Do you need to have a child with you when you buy a kids meal at Maccas?
Sunset in the valley |
There is no doubt about it, the yard is starting to look fabulous. Even though it appeared that the greenery over near the retaining wall had been cut back far too severely, only a couple of days later, and with a freshly-mown lawn in front of it, it's looking good! And we know, from what we've seen of the decimated hedge down at Da's place near the road, they do grow back! When they did that it was nothing more than sticks poking up out of the ground ... and now, less than a year later, it is, again, a hedge. And M, not to be outdone in the yard stakes, has now filled the bin with leaf litter off the tree out the front. She had been, I think, a little surprised when the piles she had swept up yesterday had not blown away, and, with Pearl's help this morning, she finished the job and shovelled them into the bin.
The Rock Stars are back! I noticed their truck down there today when Pearl and I went for a walk. I'm not sure how long they've been there or how long they're staying ... but The Ekka is on in a minute so they're probably going to bearound for that.
We're not sure what Tinka and Maggie are up to, but there were hanging around at the front gate as night was falling - which is a time for them to be rather than out. When we mentioned it M she suggested it might be because there are hatchlings, quails probably, over in L's paddock. That would explain it ... them off to do nefarious deeds under the cover of darkness. Cats will be cats ... but sometimes I think they could just ask for some more cookies if they're hungry!

Dinner was at Mouse's tonight ... and we feasted on Pumpkin Soup, Stuffed Capsicums and rhubard, custard and ice cream. Yum. And we came home with leftovers. Mouse really does take good care of all of us. Fl did end up coming, too. He had been planning to go out with his brother and nephew, and apparently had gone to the movies ("Wolverine") and broken fast with them before deciding he'd come over to Mouse's with the rest of us for a cup of tea. And to show off his facial hair growth ... which I have offered to straight razor off for him when the time comes, but I don't think he looked too thrilled at the prospect. It is something I've always wanted to do.
Sox came downstairs while we were there too. He is looking fairly frail but he is still making an effort and seems well enough within himself.
Tinka was outside when we arrived home: she walked in with S, then came out again, walked in with me (I was helping carry things in from the car) and then, as M was carrying a load in, decided to go out again. It was far too late for that and, luckily, M managed to corral her before she could be on her way. The moon, although not quite full now, does still provide enough light for hunting (and that's not even taking into account that cat's have superior night vision)so it's best that she isn't out with the wildlife. Meanwhile, Maggie was asleep in bed and didn't stir!
