Monday and the Magic Mat

This is what I saw this morning. Tinka at the back door. Tinka walking away from the back door. Tinka looking left and right at the end of the house. Tinka coming back and standing outside M's door. M kindly opening her door for Tinka as she had for Maggie only minutes before. How clever is Tinka? It's what I've come to expect of her and the other furries here at Latimers.

We had breakfast at the cafe near the post office in Nerang, in the rain. We sat inside. While we were there M showed us her ticket in last Saturday's big Lotto draw ... very impressive - but even more so as she thought it might be a winner - not of a major prize but almost enough to cover the initial outlay!

The centre wasn't as busy today as it was last week which is odd because it's still school holidays. As we were getting ready to leave, though, more families were arriving ... it looks like it's going to be another busy day at the movies.

S watered her plants this morning ... no not all of them - just the Jade plants that aren't getting any direct rain ... because the other ones have certainly received a drenching over the last few days.

Note to self: Do not send Pearl out to chase the ducks in the rain. While it may be good exercise for her, and keeps the ducks off the lawn, when it's raining, Pearl ends up tracking mud right through the house. And because I sent her, you know who was charged (quite rightly) with cleaning it up. The good news is that M has invested in a "Clean Step Mat" which "Absorbs Dirt, Mud & Water Like Magic" - and once it's dry (it doesn't work until it's been washed and dried) we'll test it out ... the hard part, though, is getting it dry in this weather! And by the time it gets dry, there may not be as much of a need for it ... except that there still is that big dirt patch where the trench has been filled in which Pearl has been known to walk over/through!

The Clean Step Mat

We were supposed to have S's brother to stay today, but because of inclement weather in Kyogle and northern NSW generally, they decided to put their trip up off until tomorrow. S was very disappointed - not just because Ch won't be here for Trivia tonight but because its now only a couple of days until he goes back to Hong Kong- and she hasn't seen enough of him yet.

So there will be only 3 of us at Trivia tonight - unless Sy joins us - and then we'll be four.

In fact, we were 5 with Sy - and M came too, and even though she suggested her role was to take the answer sheet up to the scorer, she contributed much more than that. I think we made a good team tonight - listening to each other but questioning as well. I was less than impressed though with the scoring tonight - at half time they were giving us 2 more points than we thought we had - and by the end that had gone to 6 less! We were so far off the Podium again that it didn't really matter so we didn't raise it with them but I think other assistants have done a much better job of scoring!
