Friday

There was a very light mist but no balloons floating over the valley as I drive off this morning. The calves that were playing in one of L's horse paddocks last night were nowhere to be seen - well, not in his paddocks anyway, but I did pass them in one of the paddocks next to the main road.

M was saying last night that Holly is only a month or so from foaling now. I didn't think she had been pregnant that long but M says horses are pregnant long before they start to "show". This is why I will never be an equine expert - it's hard for me to tell she's pregnant even now!

It's time for my check-up with the dentist today which I think may be slightly less ________ (insert appropriate word here) than M's initial return visit to the gym. (Thanks B for the complimentary week memberships.). There's only one thing worse than going to the dentist, I think, and that's to have them ring to say they have had some emergency cases and can they push you to later. Of course, I didn't really mind but sometimes you think it would be good to just get it over and done with rather than having an hour to spend at a coffee shop working on a newly-found puzzle. Oh wait, that wasn't so bad!

Friday Night Dinner was great tonight. M and Fi were already there by the time I arrived and M and S followed not long after. We started with soup, laced with home-grown spinach from M and A's garden, then roast capsicum stuffed with a variety of other vegetables which went very well with the racks of lamb and mushroom sauce (and Mouse's pickled cucumbers as a side). For dessert, Mouse had done F's favourite rhubarb crumble ... although, thanks to Mi who had phoned me earlier in the day, there was another option - chocolate (is there any other kind) mud cake. All very yummy! Everyone was in fine form as well - and I'm not sure if that related to the football being on. Who knew Mi knew so much about sport. S and M also quizzed them with questions from the Trivia Night - and Mi and the others did fairly well on those as well. It's a pity that M was only able to take one guest to the night with her - it's amazing what different trivial knowledge people have!

M gave Mouse a quick lesson on the iPad this evening and we were also - thanks to M finding the camera cradle - able to transfer photographs from Mouse's Sony Memory Stick to the iPad. This will make it easier for Mouse to view them and also means she has a copy of the photographs for when she fills the card (the card which M has been unable tom find replacements for - so it's the only one) and needs to empty it so she can start again. Looking through her photos last night, she has some good ones of the animals (she is still minding Prince while M and A are away), and the flowers in her garden - in full bloom since it's Spring!
