Thursday

There’s a $5,000 jackpot on offer at the Bingo today but we’ll be going to The Big House instead for their Australia Day BBQ. We went last year and had a wonderfaul time – great food plus some fantastic games (we did win some small prizes).  And it was good again this year – they had managed to put a wet weather plan in action and even though it was a bit cramped – you had to walk through the lines of people waiting to collect salad, sausages and other goodies to get to the main room – but at least everyone was staying dry – or would have stayed dry if it had started raining again, which it hadn’t.  It saved that for as we were just driving along the main road on the way back to Latimers.

There was a good selection of eats but probably the longest line was reserved for the Mr Whippy van which was serving soft-serve ice cream – a particular favourite of mine – and S is quite partial to it as well.  Of course, truth be told, it wasn’t as good as the gelato we had at The Big House the other evening – and even though it was incredibly yummy, M says that the combination she’s had – chocolate and strawberry – was ...she did use a word but I’ve forgotten it – but the sentiment was ut was a taste sensation not to be missed.  Maybe tomorrow or sometime over the weekend if we go in to The Big Housse again and with that gelato calling – it’s going to be hard to resist.

After the Oz Day celebrations we came back home to have a quiet afternoon and evening in.  I’m trying not to worry about the massive solar flare that is currently hurtling towards earth with the potential to knock out all our electronics but then again, it may just miss us.

The furries are all in this evening, staying out of the rain. The question is whether they will decide to stay in or whether they will beg to go out – which means we’ll need to go looking for them at lockdown.
