Saturday

We had an earlier-than-usual breakfast with M, Syl and An this morning before we set off on the drive to Toowoomba. The traffic was fairly bad all the way out of Southport and up to Logan - but it cleared up after that ... and we managed to make it to Mum's before 1pm.

We took her off to K-Mart ... she wanted to get some of the lollies that Mi likes. Yes, surprise! Dr, Te and the kids were in Toowoomba for the weekend as well.

Storm - light show

Within a couple of minutes of us walking into K-Mart, a message came over the store broadcast system for "all adult shoppers" ... but it was okay. it wasn't anything "adult" - they were just offering a free promotional gift - and all you had to do was go to the rep's stand and wait... and then listen to a presentation ... you had to be there for all of it - and then you'd get your free gift - and perhaps also buy the product being offered - which turned out to be a set of Forever Sharp Knives. I liked it so much, I bought the company ... remember that ad? I almost do ... in that I can't remember the product. Was it a shaving product? Electric razor perhaps? Well, I didn't buy the company ... but I did buy the knives! I think it was a good bargain ... and this afternoon when we were telling We and Ma about it, Ma went inside and came back with one he had brought earlier ... just the knife, not the full set. (I'm not sure whether to admit or not that when the presentation started, I thought it was the knife they were giving away as the promotional gift ... d'oh. The gift was actually the Chef's thingamabobby which you use for decorating radishes, carrots and the like.

We had time to go home, for Sooz to have a quick nap while Mum and I watched the end of today's golf, before we were packing up again and on our way up to We and Ma's. They were cooking BBQ tonight!

Meanwhile, back on the Gold Coast, M and Mouse were off to the races ... they had an invitation from TBH to go and watch from their Corporate Box.

Luckily, the huge storms that swept across SE Queensland today held off until this evening ... and it produced hail at Latimers, and a very spectacular light show in Toowoomba, knocking out the power in its northern suburbs - We and Ma lost power for just a moment or two but that was all.

It was great to see the kids again and they and their parents were all in fine form.

The other news of the day is that there are two new foals in the valley ... one of them born just this morning! They are real cuties!
