Post yard work

Is there nothing people won't bet on? I'm watching one of the morning shows and they're running through the betting odds for the Oscar for Best Movie.

But rather than being at home tonight watching The Oscars (Ellen de Generes was hosting) we were, as usual, at Trivia. St sat out tonight but we were still six as Ni managed to persuade her French Assistant from school to come along in his place. And since she was being St - who often helps me with my dinner at trivia - we encouraged Cl to have a few chips while she waited for her Chicken Caesar Salad. The questions seemed easier tonight than last week and we managed to climb onto that Podium in second place - and be one of the ten teams who correctly deduced the Baffler on the second clue! (Great work Sooz!)

Busy bugs

I don't think I mentioned that Ja came last Thursday and the great yard works continued - which explains why there were seven bags of rubbish that were taken to the tip on Saturday. As well, Syl came out to do some whipper-snipper-ing and is about to start storing some things in M's spare shed/stable space - she needs somewhere to put all the stuff that will be coming up from Palmers in a minute - and I think there was also talk of Syl setting up a workshop out at Latimers. And hopefully she has a strategy for dealing with the snakes I fear may have taken up residence in our bed base in the other garage … oh wait … that was the bed before this one - and we knew there were spaces in there because we found at least one of the cats (Homer or Emma) hiding there - they had a wonderful knack of knowing when it was time to go to the vet … and “disappearing”.

And speaking of “disappearing” - that's what has happened to the grape vine leaves - gone … all of them - and luckily M was observant enough to see why … small green caterpillars and black ones too - had moved onto the vine and chomped their way through them all … they didn't leave a one!
